New. SN: 26142. Sitka Spruce top, with Adirondack Red Spruce bracing underneath and no tongue brace under the top beneath fingerboard extension. Fine Sitka Spruce top with multiple bindings, Adirondack Spruce braces. High grade Mahogany back, sides and neck. Back has single tortoise binding. 1 3/4" width at nut. Ebony fingerboard with graduated dot inlays. Ebony bridge, bridgepins and endpin. Nickel Waverly tuners. Ebony peghead overlay with Collings logo inlaid in pearl. The sound is very strong, and not at all "tight". We have had many configurations of various Collings models over the years. We order our stock D-1's this way for one reason - to give you a guitar with great tone that sounds great "now", but which will mature over the years while still retaining it's "bite" and growl and power. The Adirondack braces work to keep the Sitka Spruce top more rigid over the years, instead of allowing the Sitka to naturally mature to the point of being somewhat "mellow". The tongue brace has been left out for those of you who are convinced that this allows slightly more vibratory joy to emanate from an already great guitar. As always with Collings, the set-up is wonderful right from Collings' shop. All this guitar needs is an avid player.

The traditional series from Collings are consistently excellent guitars. We chose a Sitka spruce top on this one specifically because it will be warm sounding straight away. The combination of the traditional bracing/finish with the torrefied wood is quite astonishing and truly sounds like a guitar that has been broken in for some time. Furthermore, the traditional series come with cases built at the Collings factory that are superb.
* The guitar that’s in stock now is being used as a sample. This way we can show the guitar and take orders for the next OM-2HT guitars that are already on order and will arrive in the next few months. These guitars sell so fast, that it becomes a problem to not have them long enough to show people, so we will retain this guitar until a time that there’s another “sample” to take it’s place.

Appears to be Jacaranda fingerboard with abalone dots. Fingerboard is also bound with wood binding. Exotic wood bridge with boxed bone saddle. Ebony bridgepins with abalone dot. Solid wood bindings on top and back edge of body, on heelcap, endwedge, and in multi-center line in back of guitar. Wooden soundhole rosette. Open-back Pre-War style nickel Grover tuners.
This is one of the early guitars from the builder Wilburn Huckabee out of Sandpoint, ID. Warm, even tone.

Solid carved "Massif" resonator, also with complex Ivoroid bindings and Abalone purfling, and multiple black lines showing at top and back of resonator. All gold banjo with special antique satin gold-plating on most of the parts. Granada-style inlays on tension hoop, flange, and armrest. H&K main tuners, with Gotoh 5th tuner, all gold with matching Ivoroid buttons. 4-hump tailpiece is 2-tone gold.

Resonator and fingerboard bound with white binding, with concentric circles in back of resonator. Sullivan (old factory floor) rim mated to unplated Burlile Flathead tone ring. Nickel hardware. Two-band H&K tuners with Schaller 5th, all with matching amber buttons. Rosewood flat fingerboard. Fossilized walrus ivory truss rod cover from First Nations. Double-cut peghead. Unique elaborate inlays in peghead and fingerboard. Pearl inlay block at 21st fret is engraved "Custom". * There is a repair to the peghead, but it is nearly invisible. Rosewood back has decorative “zipper” wood strip in center. Mahogany neck, radiused Ebony fingerboard with Abalone “cut-diamond” inlays. Nickel Waverly tuners. Collings logo inlaid at top of peghead. Comes with “Vintage” neck options.

The sound is very good, and has developed nicely over the past couple years. Excellent playability with low action.
There is some player wear, mostly thumbpick marks on the top around soundhole and lower, and some wear on the frets, especially in the lower positions. Strap button professionally installed in heel.

This guitar comes with LR Baggs soundhole pickup, and has a professionally installed endpin jack and cable with 1/8″ plug to accommodate this pickup (comes with purchase, but is currently in the case – easy to install).

Comes with the original great TKL Collings hard case in great shape.

Exc. (+) condition. One-owner guitar. This is definitely one of the finest 1970's D-35's that you can buy. Wonderful condition and wonderful tone. Rosewood back and sides. Mahogany neck. Killer spruce top. Rosewood peghead overlay. Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Very little evidence of prior use. Some light pick marks on top. Some light finish checking here and there, and some light shirt button marks on back. Multiple bindings seen on all quarters of top, back, and sides of guitar, and around heelcap. Single-bound fingerboard. Decorative wood strips between the three pieces of wood on the back. Original "patent-pending" Grover Rotomatic tuners. Original bridgepins and endpin. Strap button installed on heel. Graduated pearl dot position markers inlaid in fingerboard. This is a crack-free guitar. Finish is in very beautiful condition throughout. Excellent condition. This is an original shellac finish guitar with most of the finish intact. Years ago, shellac was "French polished" over wear areas. Two side cracks professionally repaired. No cracks evident on back. Top has some minor cracks repaired. Inside is very clean with "C.F. Martin and Co. Nazareth, PA" stamped inside. Serial number 9733 stamped on neck block. Brazilian Rosewood with Adirondack Red Spruce top. Beautiful two-piece cypress neck. Pyramid bridge appears to be original and has been professionally reglued. Ivory nut and saddle. Multiple wooden bindings with outer binding rosewood on top and back of guitar. Wooden herringbone soundhole rosette. Cut diamond pearl position markers inlaid in radiused ebony fingerboard. Wooden herringbone backstrip. This guitar has aged well and is excellent condition considering it is 112 years old. The sound is every bit as rich as you would expect from a guitar of this vintage.
